Metros targeting Peter Canero?
December 27, 2005

With Mo Johnston now at the helm of the club, it comes as no surprise that the MetroStars are looking towards the British Isles for reinforcement. One name that has been surfacing in the British media is Peter Canero, a 24-year-old Scottish international currently playing for Dundee United in the Scottish Premier League. He was previously with Kilmarnock and Leicester City and was originally mentioned as Metro target during the summer. Canero is a right back and has scored 13 goals in his pro career, including two this season.

The MetroStars could also be looking at Africa once again. The list of possible targets includes seven players from Ghana and two from Nigeria, according to BigAppleSoccer. An Australian, as well as French and English players (all nameless) are also considered. One must note that is nothing we haven't seen in the past three seasons; the MetroStars even signed two African players, Abbe Ibrahim and Ibrahima Diallo last year, and have had trialists from England, France, and even Australia.
